Samsung Plans to Unveil the Galaxy Note 2 on August 30

According to the Korean Digital Daily website Samsung is planning to have an Unpacked event for the Galaxy Note 2. It should happen on August 30 - a day before the IFA expo kicks off in Berlin, Germany.
According to the information the event will start at 19:00 (local time, CET) and will be all about the Galaxy Note 2. As the latest rumors have it, the Note’s successor will be powered by a quad-core Exynos chipset, will feature a 13MP camera and will actually be narrower despite the larger, 5.5" screen. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean should be powering the whole thing.
With the original Galaxy Note going official at last year's IFA, it was only logical for its successor to arrive at the same event a year later. Yet, Samsung decided not to bring the Galaxy S III to the MWC earlier this year, so there was always the chance that the Koreans will have a separate event for their other key device as well. It's good this isn't the case, though.
Naturally, we'll be onsite covering the Sasmung Galaxy Note 2 announcement live for you, so make sure to keep an eye on our homepage when the time comes.

Tips 8: How to Pinch or Swipe the iPhone’s Screen Without Pinching or Swiping

Not everyone has the full use of their fingers, and that’s a problem when it comes to such common iPhone “gestures” as pinching and swiping the touchscreen.
The solution: the iPhone’s helpful “AssistiveTouch” feature, which lets you create a custom menu of multitouch gestures that you can perform with just a few taps, no pinching or swiping required. Indeed, once you’ve got AssistiveTouch up and running, you can do just about anything on your iPhone (or iPad, or iPod Touch) with a single fingertip, or even a stylus.

Tips 7: Send us Your Favorite iPhone Auto-correct Fail (and Learn How to Turn Auto-Correct Off)

One of our best friends had just landed at JFK, and she was in a … “can,” according to my wife’s text message. Oh, and our friend was also in dire need of an “exception.”
Um, excuse me?
Of course, it turns out our pal was in a cab, not a can, and she needed an Excedrin, not an exception.
So it goes with the iPhone’s sometimes helpful, sometimes not-so-much “auto-correct” feature, which serves up suggestions for misspelled words—or words it thinksyou’ve misspelled, anyway—as you type.

Tips 6: How to Save an Image on the Web to Your Camera Roll (Reader Mail)

Angela writes: Once in awhile I’ll come across a picture on the Internet that I’d like to copy and paste into my iPhone’s photo album. I know how to copy & paste text, but what about photos (or can you)?

Hi Angela! Good question—and yes, you can copy images from your iPhone’s web browser to the Camera Roll, or even send a web photo via email or picture message. The secret? A simple tap & hold.

Tips 5: How to Turn the iPhone’s Camera Flash into a Blinking Alert Light

Want to see rather than just hear that your iPhone is ringing? You can, with a little help from the iPhone’s camera flash.
In just a few taps, you can set the LED flash for the iPhone’s rear-facing camera to blink anytime a calls comes in, whenever a text pops into your message inbox, or for any other iPhone event that would normally set off an alert tone or vibration.
It’s a handy feature for iPhone users (particularly hard-of-hearing ones) who can’t rely on audio alerts to screen notifications; keep in mind, though, that you will (of course) have to lay your iPhone face-down to see the camera flash blinking.

Tips 4: How to Keep Text Messages From Appearing on the Lock Screen

Larry writes: How can I stop text pictures and text messages from popping up on my phone automatically? I would rather have them concealed until I open them.

Hi Larry! By default, new text messages will trigger an alert on your iPhone “lock screen” (the screen with the “slide to open” slider), complete with a preview of the message—meaning anyone who picks up your iPhone and clicks the “Home” key will be able to peek at your latest texts.
For some, that’s not a big deal; others, though, may want to keep their SMS chats a bit more private.
Here’s how to do it:
Make sure "Show Preview" is switched off to keep snippets of your text messages from appear on the iPhone lock screen.

Tips 3: How to Type Characters with Accent Marks (Reader Mail)

how do you add accent marks to letters as you’re typing on your iPhone? It’s simple, actually.
Tap and hold a specific letter (say, the letter “a”) and a pop-up menu of accent marks will appear—everything from acute (“á”) and grave (“à”) accents to umlauts (“ä”) and tildes (“ã”).
Note: This tip works for the iPad and iPod Touch, as well.
How do you select the accent mark you want? The trick is to keep holding the letter key you first tapped, then slide your fingertip to the correct symbol and release.
If you lift your finger from the touchscreen keypad and then try to tap the accent-mark key, the menu of accent marks will disappear before you can tap it.

Tips 2: Don’t Like What You Typed? Shake to “Undo”

So, say you just typed a lengthy text message on your iPhone (or iPad, or iPod Touch), but you’ve had a change of heart and want to start over.
You could delete what you typed by tapping the backspace key a few dozen times, or you could select the text with your fingertip and tap “Cut.”
Or, you could try a third, well-hidden option: just shake your iPhone.

10 (more) iPhone Tips You Need to Try - part1

So, my first dozen iPhone tricks weren’t enough for you? Get ready for 10 more tips that’ll help you organize your photos, keep your text messages private, stop your iPhone from auto-correcting your typing, and more.

1. How to create a new photo album on your iPhone

Want to organize the pile of snapshots sitting in your iPhone’s camera roll? Try this: just create a new album or two, then start sorting.
There are actually a couple of ways to make a photo album on your iPhone: one is to create a new, empty album and then start adding photos to it, while the other is to select one or more images first and then create a new album for them.
